In a major decision taken today by the BJP’s parliamentary party, Narendra Modi has been chosen as the party’s face for the Lok Sabha Elections 2014. He will be a candidate for the Prime Ministership. The senior most leader of the BJP Mr. LK Advani chose not to attend the meeting as he is not in favor with the decision.
In his speech Mr. Modi has thanked the parliamentary board and said “I will use all my capabilities to serve the party. I assure my party men that I will ensure victory in 2014 elections. I am grateful to the BJP, India and people of India. I will leave no stone untouched. I thank the media for bringing out the most important issue touching our people which is corruption.”
The BJP President Mr. Rajnath Singh confirmed that all the NDA allies are with this decision made by his party. Whereas Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Mrs. Sushma Swaraj said that Mr. Modi will go to Mr. Advani’s place to seek his blessings.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Shivraj Singh Chauhan and the former Rajasthan Chief Minister Mrs. Vasudhara Raje Scindia have congratulated Mr. Modi via their tweets.
In a letter to Mr. Rajnath Singh Mr. LK Advani has said that, “I am disappointed the way Mr. Modi is chosen as PM Candidate.”
It will be interesting to see how Mr. Modi will manage his position as party’s campaign chief from now on.
